Lost Poetry...

Hie everyone...

Its been really long since i last wrote a blog.

To be honest, i couldn't think of anything interesting enough to put on the wall. But then i stumbled across my high school English Prose and Poetry book and it got me thinking.

There was a time when i was bonkers about poems and i used to read them through and through almost everyday. I loved they way the words rhymed and the way a sonnet would be sufficient in itself.

I still remember coming across one special poem when i was in 7th std. It was a poem by Robert Frost named, 'Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Evening'. I still don't know what was about that poem that caught my attention, but reading it gave me a sense of peace and calm. It sent me to a different world and it was like i could feel every detail mentioned in the poem.

That is when i started loving poems and i knew that i wanted to write too...someday.

We have all been aware of poets like John Keats, Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, Robert Frost, E. E Cummings, William Blake, O Henry etc etc.
The list is never ending.

But recently, i came across a very interesting piece of poetry. I was watching the movie, 'A Haunting in Connecticut', where there is a mention of a very strange poem with a gothic representation. It immediately had my attention and i googled it...

This is the poem Google found for me:

One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.

Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.

One was blind and the other couldn't, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.

A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"

A paralyzed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye.

Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all.

A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys.

If you don't believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!

This rather sounds very funny, but is beautifully expressed in the movie i mentioned. And it really gives you chills.

There is no known author of this poem and it dates back to somewhere around 14th century.
There have been many versions to this poem, the most famous of which i posted here. The excellent blend of oxymoron gives it a very unique and interesting edge.

From the time i read through the poem, i really liked it.
And i hope you do too. If you find any other such poems, do let me know.

Will be waiting for your response and comments.

My Life....My Love....How it all changed!!

They say that Love is the best of all the feelings in the world. And sure it's true. I found love when i least expected to and I must say, it surely has changed me for the better.

It is so strange that we wait for someone special all our life, but we fail to understand that the person with us right now, might be that someone, might be 'the one'. You do not miss something until it has gone out of your life. The same happened with me. This relationship has taught me a lot of things. Some of which I will be sharing with you.

We were a happy couple. There were a lot of differences, like in any other relationships, but our best asset was our compatibility. We were very comfortable and compatible with each other. But the interesting part is that we have spent more time being off the relationship, than being in the relationship. But that has nothing but increased our bond with each other. Our love story is no different from any other. Same twists, same turns, same ups and downs, he coming from a different caste, me from a different, family obligations, this...that.....and the typical opposites attract stuff. But most importantly, we shared a relationship that was unique.

When we were actually IN the relationship, we used to fight like cats and dogs, and when we were out of the relationship, we were more like a couple who’s just fallen in love. We have been through a lot in our relationship, there was a time when he was very serious, and I was not. Then came the phase when we both were not serious, which transformed into a time when we both became serious. And now, it has come up to the point, when I have become serious, and he says that he’s stopped loving me.

We have seen so much together. We have shared so much in each others company, from sharing our happiness, sorrows, love, anger, depression, easy times, tough times to sharing our lives together, we have seen it all. So how can one forget it all and go on living like the past 3 years never happened?

I sometimes sit and wonder, how can love stop, how can it cease? If such is the case, then there must not be any love from the very beginning itself. I still dont have the answers to these questions....and a lot more!!!
I have a lot of complains from HIM, and i also think that somehow the past 3 years could just erase out of my memory. But i have to live with reality and accept whatever comes in my way.

Out of the many thing that i learned from HIM and my relationship with HIM, there are a few insights:
  • Never Expect: I never expected to fall in love, but I did. When you do not expect anything, life is full of surprises. And you will find yourself being disappointed quite less.
  • Happiness: It is a very integral part of one’s life. All my life, i worked hard on how to make others happy, forgetting how to be happy myself. He made me happy and taught me how to live with absolute bliss.
  • Positivity: I was a very pessimistic person. Never happy with what I have, and always complaining. He showed me how to be happy and satisfied with what I have and how to look at the brighter side of everything. Even today, if i am faced with a sad or difficult situation, i try to look at how it could be good for me.
  • Be Fun and energetic: Life is too short if u want to live it with content. So it is better to enjoy every second of your life. This is what he used to do, and all i did was learn it from him.
  • Keep Smiling: Smile never hurts, and it is one thing that is always returned with most affection. He kept smiling all day long, which persuaded me to keep smiling throughout the day. And i found out that i started to live more enthusiastically, looking forward to each day.
  • Be Strong: The hardships in our relationships made me stronger and more practical. Display of emotions can be a dangerous thing, especially when one knows your weakness. I learned to be strong and faced the world with more confidence than ever before.
  • Be Bold: Crying over a situation can never help. It is your life and you are the one who governs it. I learned to get hold of my life and to show everyone, what i really stand for.
  • Wait: Patience was another thing that he taught me. I also strongly started believing the fact that everything happens for the best. If everything is messed up and wrong now, you can be sure God has some better plans for you. All you have to do is WAIT.
These are just some of the things that i learned from Him and my relationship. I realized he was my ‘The One’ only when he was separated from me. I cannot say i am happy now with what has become, but there surely will come a day when i will look back at all these times and laugh out loud. And i hope that day comes pretty soon.

But if you have that ONE person in your life that you love the most, do not hesitate to say that you love that person. Don’t ever let a time come when you desperately want to share your love with someone, but that person is not there with you. So take some time out of your busy schedule and tell someone that you love them. Just those 3 words can sometimes be enough to tell how you feel, can be enough to end a fight, can be enough to show care and can be enough when words fail.

But most importantly, love someone today...and you will feel a sense of happiness and belonging that you have never felt before. And if you too have faced a situation similar to mine, and have been hurt, try forgiving the person who has hurt you..... that's what i did.... and i can surely say.... i m happier now compared to when i was angry.

With these final words, i end my blog, " Love means never having to say you are sorry" - Eric Segal, Love Story.

Mouse Potato- "Beware!!!...You Could Be One!"

Hiee everyone....

Here I am....once again with another blog to share with all of you...

Today i will be giving you all, a little vocabulary lesson....Now don't you worry, it's not anything like the English classes you used to have in school.

I was thinking what next to write in my blog and since i could not decide on a topic, i asked a friend for help. I texted my friend to suggest me few topics for my next blog. To my surprise, his reply came instantly with just 2 words in the SMS....'MOUSE POTATO'.... I smiled and thought why not??
So my dear friends, i will give u an insight on what exactly is a Mouse Potato...

To be frank, in today's world, almost everyone is a Mouse Potato! Yep, that's true....

WordWeb defines Mouse Potato as 'Someone who spends a lot of time using a computer (playing games, browsing the internet, etc.)'

Even I am a hard core Mouse Potato. I can spend almost endless hours infront of my Laptop doing absolutely useless and stupid things. Yet, somehow i just dont seem to get tired of it. :D

The phrase Mouse Potato first originated in 1993 when a writer, Alice Kahn coined it in an e-mail to the American Dialect Society.

Another such term that became a cliche is Deskfasting, which means 'having breakfast at one's work desk in the morning'.

Though Deskfasting is not that popular in India, you can sure see a lot of Mouse Potatoes lying around.

The Annual Staples National Small Business Survey revealed that around 62% of the small business owners in the US, found themselves transforming into Mouse Potatoes, with two-third of them working and eating at the same time, and one-third, Deskfasting, with an effort to maximize time.

So my dear friends if you wish to start a small business or want to be intrapreneurs, take care, you might be entering the luring world of binary codes. Don't get attached to the beautiful machines called PCs and Laptops, else, you might just end up being a Mouse Potato or maybe even Deskfasting.

Hope you enjoy my blog.
Do post in your comments.

Noetic Science....It'll Surprise You...

Hie again everyone....

I promise, no more Gyan Baatna.... :D
Today I am here talking about something very interesting.

I had been reading Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol since....i don't know....a decade maybe :D
but somehow i just dont manage to finish it.

Anyways, i wont be giving a book review...i will be talking about something i read in that book that really fascinated me.

There is a mention of this branch of Science in the book called as Noetic Science. Honestly i did not even know something like this existed until i read the book. So i though that it might be a new branch and so maybe that is why it is not that well known. So as always, i googled Noetic Science. And what Wikipedia had in store for me, was beyond what i could ever imagine.

The Institute of Noetic Science was formed by a former astronaut Edgar Mitchell and an industrialist Paul N. Temple in 1973.

I couldn't even imagine this study being old, let alone in the 70's. So i tried to dig deeper into it.

And this is what i found....

Noetic Science is the study of Human Potential and Extended Human Capabilities.

It's research includes topics like
  • spontaneous remission
  • meditation
  • consciousness
  • alternative healing practices
  • spirituality
  • mind's potential
  • psychic abilities
  • survival of conscious body after death, etc.

Wikipedia defines Noetic Theory as a 'branch of metaphysical philosophy concerned with the study of mind and intuition, and its relationship with the divine intellect. Among its principal purposes is to study the effects of perceptions, beliefs, and intention with respect to human consciousness.'

But overall, the theory of Noetic Science revolves around the idea that human mind is capable of affecting the physical world.

The question arises...Is Noetic Science Practical?

Well, it must be because many experiments have proved that human mind is a very powerful tool and had undoubted effect on the physical world.

To read more about such experiments, you can visit the web page : http://www.theintentionexperiment.com/the_experiments

The study merely states that 'focused thought' could affect almost anything; right from the growth rate of a plant and direction of fish swimming in a bowl to synchronization of separately automated systems and the chemical reactions in one's own body.

One particular experiment which i personally liked was one stated in The Lost Symbol that said that when Katherine (a fictitious character in the novel) sent loving thoughts to a glass of water when it froze, it formed beautifully symmetrical crystals. And on the other hand, when she sent bad and polluting thought to another glass of water while freezing, the crystals formed were chaotic and fractured.

There is too much to write about this topic once one starts.
Noetic Science is a overextending branch whose reach is limitless.

This topic surely fascinated me, and i hope you too are curious to read about it.
I did not cover much about the topic since i just wanted to write an overview about it.
If there is anything you guys want to add, please do so.

More articles about Noetic Science and its relevance can be read at

It was fun writing about this. All your suggestions and feedback are welcome.
Oh, and The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.....it's a must read!! :D

Develop Your Communication Style.....Here's How

Hey there Guys....

I know... I Know...
There's been to much content about developing your communication style. Either during sessions, or maybe in your day-to-day experiences. But i hope all of you know that it is, in fact an integral part of our day to day life.

There are a lot of things that maybe told to everyone that might help in improving your communication style. Read this novel, that book, etc. etc.

But by the end of the day, do we guys actually get enough time to do
so?

So, how do we work upon it?
What effective measures can we take to be fluent and thorough with communication?

By now, all of my dear friend would have realized that the mentors were obviously right. Communication, and not just any communication, but
EFFECTIVE communication is very important.

It's a very hungry world out there. If u can't compete, u can't survive. They all eat you out to the point were your mere existence will seem worthless to u.

So friends, gear up. It's high time we start grooming ourselves in the way the corporate world demands.

Okay, too much of so called '
Gyan'.

Let us talk about effective measures to develop our communication styles. You can follow any one of them, or if u have the zeal to learn, u might want to follow all.
:D
Here are a few that i'l be mentioning....if u have some more additions, feel free to write. :D

  • Read: Well, there is no alternative to it my dear friends. Read, Read, Read and Read as much as you can. Once u develop a consistency in reading, u'l realize that you can
automatically form sentences in ur mind. And u'l not have to think a lot before saying anything . If you like reading novels, and you find foreign authors very difficult to read, start with Indian authors. That will help you start off real good and will become the base of stepping into the next step of foreign authors. Moreover, it increases your word power. And the biggest advantage is that u'l master the trick of battibaazi while writing theoretical papers.... :D... trust me.... its my personal experience. :D

  • Watch: Ahan, watch Hollywood movies, Soaps and Serials, Watch English News. TV Tuner Card lagwaya hai na??? So ask for channels like BBC, NBC, Star Movies, HBO, StarWorld, VH1 etc. etc. The list goes on and on. Once u start watching these u'l start
understanding their language and the way they speak. And it wont be long before you too master this art. Now for my friends who watch movies by copying it on their laptops and PC's via any means at all. They can watch the movies with subtitles. This will not only increase your word power, it will also increase your concentration power. Once you set yourself to the type of movies you watch, you will not need the subtitles anymore. And you will find yourself understanding what they say, without any problem.

  • Listen: Yep, listen! Just watching ain't gonna help u my dear friends. U have to LISTEN to what they say also. So get your ears cleaned and start listening to what you see. And
trust me, in no time even you will start talking with as much fluency as any other American Actor.

So guys, I just told u how to effectively efficiently use 3 out of your 5 senses. I hope i was clear enough in communicating what i wanted to share. If there are any mistakes, i do apologize. Its my first blog you see :)

Do post in your comments. Will love to read it all. (Achcha hi likhna, else college me batati hu!!!)

Last but not the least, i would like to say that a good communicator is one who can pass on the message to his listeners without any doubt or confusions. So i hope this article was of help and everyone will benefit from it. I wish everyone all the best.

Take care
Ciao.
